Biography

Jacqueline Matisse is an emerging UK/Australian multidiscipline artist currently based in Ballaarat/Ballarat. Jacqueline utilises installation as a means of embodying the ineffable sensations of trauma, loss and abandonment. The inability to verbalise these profound sensations has governed her compulsion to maintain an immediate engagement with everyday materials and to express these acute feelings through the production of large evocative installations.

Jacqueline has recently completed a Master of Fine Art from RMIT University, Australia and has attained a Master of Letters in Fine Art Practice from the Glasgow School of Art, Scotland. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Visual Art, a Postgraduate Diploma in Film and Television and a Bachelor of Fine Art Photography from the Victorian College of the Arts, Australia.

Jacqueline has exhibited in Australia and the UK, and in 2016, she held a performance, titled Prussian Blue, in the grounds of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh. She is also the recipient of several art awards in the fields of drawing, photography, film, and has participated in several artist residencies throughout Scotland. Her short films have been included the Official Selections of international short film festivals in the United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, the United States of America and Australia.
