Home: Welcome

My art practice utilises installation as a means of embodying the ineffable sensations of trauma, loss and abandonment. The inability to verbalise these profound sensations has governed my compulsion to maintain a direct engagement with everyday materials and to express these acute feelings through the production of large evocative installations.

I have an affinity to working on the floor, in the horizontal plane. My studio practice has uncovered recollections of a childhood where my gaze was always cast downward, and this amplified an empathy with the abandoned, the invisible - the spaces and gaps that go unseen. In my studio practice I gather mundane, everyday materials, such as fabric, paper, paint, and arrange them within this horizontal space. Through physical engagement and manipulation, I merge these elements until they are no longer identifiable. The process is an exhumation and manifestation of repressed emotion and the abstraction and materiality convey my visceral sensations of loss and abandonment.
